A red triangle with two inward lines warns the road narrows on both sides ahead - it gets tighter, so be ready to give way or wait.

What it means
The carriageway narrows ahead. There may not be room for two vehicles, so plan who goes first and be ready to slow or hold back. Versions also exist for the road narrowing on one side only.

Where you'll see it
Bridges, old village streets, and roadworks. Often paired with priority signs telling you whether you or oncoming traffic goes first.

Read the priority signs and markings, and don't force through a narrowing - a calm give-and-take is what's marked.
