What instructor insurance typically covers

Ordinary car insurance doesn't cover teaching for money. Instructor policies are built for tuition and typically include:

  • Any-learner cover, so each pupil drives insured
  • Dual-control vehicle cover, including modifications
  • Cover while a pupil uses the car for their driving test
  • Options like dual-control replacement cars, breakdown, and legal protection

What to check before you buy

Policies differ on the details that matter: negligence claims arising from tuition, off-road lessons for under-17s, business use beyond teaching, and how a claim affects your no-claims discount.

We're instructors, not insurers - we don't sell or arrange cover, so there's no need to call us about it. The specialist brokers listed above are the ones TOFU instructors use; contact them directly for a quote.
