Ahead only

A sign that tells you what to do

Ahead only

A blue circle with an upward arrow means ahead only - you must go straight on, not turn.

01

What it means

A blue circle tells you what you must do. This one means continue straight ahead; turning left or right here is not allowed. It's used to keep traffic flowing the right way, often just past a junction.

02

Where you'll see it

At junctions and lane entries where turning would be dangerous or against the traffic system.

03

On your driving test

Read mandatory signs early and get in the correct lane - being in a turn lane at an 'ahead only' point means a wrong, possibly unsafe, move.
