Cutting corners
What it means
Keeping to your own side when turning right, so you do not cut across the corner onto the path of anything coming the other way.
What a fault looks like
Clipping the corner slightly is a driving fault; cutting well onto the wrong side where an oncoming vehicle is, is serious or dangerous.
What learners get wrong
Starting to turn the wheel too early on a right turn, so the car drifts across the centre line before you are round.
What we recommend
Drive up to the turning point before you steer, keep left of the centre line, and only cross once you can see your new road is clear.
