What it means
Approaching a junction at a speed that lets you look properly, stop if you must, and go safely if it is clear - slowing early and smoothly.
What a fault looks like
Arriving a little too fast so the look is rushed is a driving fault; approaching so fast you could not stop for a hazard is serious or dangerous.
What learners get wrong
Braking late and hard right at the give-way line instead of easing the speed off well before it.
What we recommend
Get your braking done early so you arrive slow and settled, with time to look. It is easier to speed up from slow than to rescue a rushed approach.
