What it means
Dealing safely with oncoming traffic where the road narrows - past parked cars or through a gap - deciding who goes first and giving way when you should.
What a fault looks like
Hesitating or edging forward when you should give way is a driving fault; forcing through so an oncoming driver has to stop or swerve is serious.
What learners get wrong
Pushing on when the obstruction is on your side and you should wait, or stopping in an awkward spot that blocks everyone.
What we recommend
If the parked cars or the obstruction are on your side, the give way is usually yours. Hold back early at a sensible spot and let oncoming traffic clear.
