Crossing traffic
What it means
Judging safe gaps when your path crosses oncoming traffic - typically turning right across the opposite flow - and only going when there is genuinely time.
What a fault looks like
Accepting a slightly small gap is a driving fault; turning across traffic that has to brake hard, or badly misjudging speed, is serious or dangerous.
What learners get wrong
Underestimating how fast oncoming traffic is closing, or committing and then hesitating halfway across.
What we recommend
Wait for a gap you are certain of, look right through it before you move, and once you commit, complete the turn smoothly without stopping.
