Operating the secondary controls - lights, wipers, demister, indicators, heater - correctly and without taking your attention off the road.
What a fault looks like
Fumbling for a control and drifting, or using the wrong one (wipers instead of indicators), is a driving fault; a long look away that affects control can be serious.
What learners get wrong
Hunting for a switch in an unfamiliar car with your eyes off the road, so the car wanders.
What we recommend
Know where the main controls are before you set off, and operate them by feel with quick glances only. In the test car, ask your instructor to point them out first.
